Here are my picks for the Oscars. I don’t actually care who wins. I probably won’t watch more than an hour total of the show. I most certainly will not be live-blogging the thing.
BEST PICTURE = No Country for Old Men
BEST ACTOR = in order from most hot to least hot…but this year they are fuck-able in their own ways.
Johnny Depp, Sweeney Todd
Viggo Mortensen, Eastern Promises
George Clooney, Michael Clayton
Tommy Lee Jones, In the Valley of Elah
Daniel Day-Lewis, There Will Be Blood
S
ome might argue with my putting Daniel last, but Tommy beats him for his gruff, hard exterior personality. I like it.
BEST ACTRESS = I don’t actually care and I haven’t seen these movies. The Best Actress category is stupid and needs a complete overhaul. Seriously.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR = Javier Bardem, No Country for Old Men
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS = Tilda Swinton, Michael Clayton
I can support this because Tilda is pretty fabulous.
BEST DIRECTOR = Joel and Ethan Coen, No Country for Old Men
Innovators.
BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY = Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, No Country for Old Men
They get this sort of thing often, I would rather they win for best director than this…but they deserve both.
BEST ANIMATED FEATURE = The three choices are stupid and do not deserve mention.
BEST ART DIRECTION = Sweeney Todd
Clearly!
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY = No Country for Old Men
The views in this movie push it to a new level. Again, innovators.
BEST COSTUME DESIGN = Sweeney Todd
Love it!
BEST DOCUMENTARY = I think they should all win one award. I love documentaries and these are all extraordinary. They should be mandatory viewing in all the ignorant corners of this country.
